The Hull Mounted Sonar is triple frequency broadband sonar in order to cope with a broad spectrum of environmental conditions. The Sonar arrays are optimised for the three frequencies, giving high sensitivity and detection performance to deal with the threats of modern mines. Separate receiving and transmitting arrays provide maximum performance for both, transmission and reception of the arrays. The individual transmission arrays for each of the three frequencies provide high source levels.
The HMS-12M is easy to operate: apart from one sonar operator no further personnel is required. Sonar Operation as well as remote lowering and retraction of the HMS-12M array are possible with just one console.
The HMS-12M provides not just outstanding performance against all types of naval mine threats but also maximum safety to the crew and the Mine Countermeasures Vessel by using signature-optimised technology. ATLAS mine hunting sonars are in use in Germany, Sweden, Finland, Australia, Thailand and other users in undisclosed countries.
